The Raja Nazrin Shah Invitational Masters and International Open Chess Championships is sponsored by the Masterskill Education Group Berhad and organised by Polgar Chess Asia for the Kuala Lumpur Chess Association (KLCA) under the auspices of the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) and so are registered and recognised by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) as international title and rated tournaments.
2. Venue & Schedule of Play
The venue and official hotel is the Swiss Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur located in the main Bukit Bintang Shopping District. (The organizers have arranged a special rate at both the hotel and the residences on twin and triple sharing basis).

3. Prize Fund
Open:
1st - RM 5,000; 2nd - RM 3,000; 3rd - RM 2,000; 4th-10th - RM 1,000 each; 11th-20th - RM 500 each
Special Prizes:
Best Woman - RM 1,000; Best U-16 - RM 500; Best U-12 - RM 500
Masters:
1st - RM 4,000; 2nd - RM 2,500; 3rd - RM 1,500
4. System, Rules & Regulations
The Raja Nazrin Shah Invitational Masters Championship will be a 10 player, 9 round robin GM tournament and the Raja Nazrin Shah International Open Chess Championship will be played over 9 rounds using the FIDE Swiss System as paired using the Swiss Manager program. Both will use the FIDE time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.
5. Entry Fees
The Raja Nazrin Shah Invitational Masters Championship is by invitation. Entry fees for the Raja Nazrin
Shah International Open Championship are:
>2400 No Entry Fee; > 2300 RM 100; <2200 RM 200; >2100 RM 300; >2000 RM 400; > 1800 RM 500; Others RM 600
Entries must be received in writing together with full payment of the applicable entry fee by 31st July
2011, after which a 50% penalty may apply. The organisers also reserve the right to refuse any entry at its discretion.
6. Conditions for Players
GMs will at the minimum be provided with room and breakfast at the official hotel on a twin sharing basis with any other assistance provided on a case by case basis.
